Stones Guide
Helbreath Nexus uses several different stone families, and they do very different jobs. Deathstones retaliate against enemy players when you die, Zemstone of Sacrifice protects you from normal death-item loss, while Merien/Xelima Fragments and Stones are progression materials used for equipment slot enhancement.

Deathstones
Deathstones are PvP insurance with teeth. Keep one in your inventory and, when you die during a valid enemy-player kill, the first usable Deathstone found by the server can activate against your killer.
Deathstones do not need to be equipped. They are checked directly from your inventory.
Current Deathstone Types
| Deathstone | Effect on Killer | Current Duration / Power |
|---|---|---|
| Deathstone of Stamina | Drains killer's SP | SP becomes 0 immediately |
| Deathstone of Venom | Applies Poison | Poison Level 40 for 60 seconds |
| Deathstone of Binding | Applies Stun | 10 seconds |
| Deathstone of Inversion | Inverts movement controls | 10 seconds |
| Deathstone of Disruption | Applies Silence | 10 seconds |
| Deathstone of Burning | Applies Burning | 10 seconds |
Deathstone of Stamina
This is the simplest Deathstone:
It does not reduce SP by a percentage; it drains the killer's current stamina completely.
Deathstone of Venom
Duration = 60 seconds
The stone applies the normal Poison system using the configured poison level and duration stored on the item.
Deathstone of Binding
If the killer already has Stun, the old Stun state is cleared and the Deathstone applies its own fresh Stun duration.
Deathstone of Inversion
The killer's movement directions are inverted for the effect duration. Existing Confuse/Illusion Movement state is replaced by the Deathstone effect.
Deathstone of Disruption
Silence prevents normal spell casting for the effect duration.
Deathstone of Burning
The stone applies the normal Nexus Burning status. For the exact Burning tick behavior and Magic Resistance penalty, see the Status Effects Guide.
When Does a Deathstone Activate?
The current server activates Deathstones only in the valid enemy-player PvP death flow.
| Death Situation | Deathstone? |
|---|---|
| Valid enemy-nation player kill | Yes |
| Monster / NPC kills you | No |
| You kill yourself | No |
| Same-side / non-valid PvP death | No |
If multiple Deathstones are in your inventory, HGServer scans your inventory from the beginning and uses the first Deathstone whose effect can successfully activate.
Deathstone & Item-Drop Protection
A successful Deathstone activation does more than punish your killer. It also suppresses the normal random item-drop part of that death penalty.
Your normal death EXP penalty can still apply. The Deathstone specifically suppresses the item-drop stage.
Zemstone of Sacrifice
Zemstone of Sacrifice is a death-protection item. Unlike a Deathstone, it does not attack your killer. Instead, it takes priority when the normal death system is about to drop one or more random items from your inventory.
How Zemstone Works
- Your death reaches the normal item-drop penalty stage.
- HGServer checks for a usable Zemstone of Sacrifice.
- The Zemstone loses 1 durability/use.
- The Zemstone itself is dropped instead of selecting random inventory items.
- The death-item-drop routine stops for that death.
| Zemstone Stat | Current Value |
|---|---|
| Maximum durability / uses | 3 |
| Weight | 500 |
| Protects EXP loss? | No |
| Protects random item-drop penalty? | Yes |
If the Zemstone still has durability remaining after being used, it is dropped onto the ground with its remaining durability. If that use reduces its durability to 0, it is destroyed instead of being placed on the ground.
Deathstone vs Zemstone Priority
These two protection systems are used at different stages of the death flow.
| Step | What Happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | On a valid enemy-player death, HGServer first tries to activate a Deathstone. |
| 2 | If a Deathstone activates, its effect hits the killer and normal random item-drop is suppressed. |
| 3 | If no Deathstone suppresses the item-drop stage, normal death-item protection can use a Zemstone. |
| 4 | If no usable Zemstone is available, the server proceeds with the normal random item-drop penalty. |
Death EXP Penalty
Neither Deathstone nor Zemstone removes the normal EXP loss calculation by itself.
Neutral characters receive one-third of that calculated EXP loss.
The exact Penalty Level depends on the death situation and criminal status, so the possible EXP loss changes from death to death.
Deathstone Achievement
Every successful Deathstone activation counts toward the character-scoped Deathstone achievement.
| Successful Activations | Title |
|---|---|
| 1 | Prepared for Death |
| 15 | Death Insured |
| 50 | Grave Planner |
| 100 | Vengeful Casualty |
| 200 | Death's Reminder |
| 300 | Persistent Avenger |
| 500 | Posthumous Menace |
| 1,000 | Master of the Last Words |
| 2,500 | Revenge Beyond Death |
| 5,000 | You Killed the Wrong One |
Xelima & Merien Fragments
Fragments are incomplete crafting materials. They have no direct combat effect by themselves and must be restored into full Stones through the Fragment Forger.
| Fragment | Restores Into | Exchange Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Fragment of Xelima | Stone of Xelima | 5 → 1 |
| Fragment of Merien | Stone of Merien | 5 → 1 |
Exchange Examples
| Fragments | Stones Received | Fragments Left |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 1 | 0 |
| 10 | 2 | 0 |
| 14 | 2 | 4 |
| 27 | 5 | 2 |
| 100 | 20 | 0 |
The Fragment Forger supports both Exchange 1 and Exchange All. Exchange All consumes every complete group of five and leaves any remainder in your inventory.
Where Fragments Come From
Xelima and Merien Fragments are included in several monster drop pools and can also appear in Treasure Boxes.
Treasure Box configuration currently gives:
| Treasure Box Item | Configured Chance |
|---|---|
| Fragment of Xelima | 3% |
| Fragment of Merien | 3% |
Monster fragment odds vary by monster/drop table, so there is no single universal fragment drop percentage.
Stone of Xelima & Stone of Merien
Full Stones are mainly used together for Equipment Slot Enhancement. You need both types; having only Xelima Stones or only Merien Stones is not enough.
| Slot Upgrade | Stone of Merien | Stone of Xelima | Gold | Success |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 → 1 Slot | 3 | 3 | 5,000,000 | 80% |
| 1 → 2 Slots | 6 | 6 | 10,000,000 | 60% |
Material Formula
So:
- Slot 1 needs 1 × 3 = 3 of each Stone.
- Slot 2 needs 2 × 3 = 6 of each Stone.
Fragment Cost Equivalent
Since every Stone costs five matching Fragments to restore:
| Upgrade | Xelima Fragments Equivalent | Merien Fragments Equivalent | Total Fragments |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 → 1 Slot | 15 | 15 | 30 |
| 1 → 2 Slots | 30 | 30 | 60 |
| 0 → 2, first-try path | 45 | 45 | 90 total fragments |
What Happens if Slot Enhancement Fails?
Failure does not destroy the equipment.
The materials are consumed for both successful and failed valid attempts.
First-Try Probability

Practical Tips
- Carry a Deathstone when you expect enemy-player PvP and want both revenge and item-drop protection.
- Zemstone is especially useful when you want item-drop protection even in deaths where a Deathstone does not activate.
- Remember that Zemstone does not protect the death EXP penalty.
- Save Xelima and Merien Fragments in multiples of five to minimize leftovers.
- Slot Enhancement always requires both Stone families.
- A first-slot attempt costs the equivalent of 30 total Fragments; a second-slot attempt costs another 60 total Fragments.
- Because failed slot attempts consume the Stones, keep extra Fragments if you plan to push valuable equipment to two slots.
