Jewelcrafting Guide
Jewelcrafting lets you turn Raw Gems into usable gemstones, unlock gemstone slots on equipment, and socket those gemstones for permanent bonuses while the equipment is worn.
Jewelcrafting at a Glance
- Obtain a Raw Gem, usually through Mining.
- Use a Jewel Cutter at the Jewelcrafter to refine it into a gemstone.
- Unlock one or two gemstone slots on a suitable weapon, armor piece, or shield.
- Socket the gemstone into compatible equipment.
- If you change your build later, gemstones can be removed through Gemstone Unsocketing.
1. Refining Raw Gems
Bring a Jewel Cutter and a Raw Gem to the Jewelcrafter NPC. Place both items into the refining window, press Refine, and wait for the refining process to finish.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Jewel Cutter | Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum Jewel Cutter. |
| Raw Gem | Orange, Purple, Red, Blue, Green, Aqua, Gold, Silver, Pink, Shiraz, Cyan, or Malachite. |
| Raw Gem consumed | Exactly 1 per refine. |
| Cutter durability | 1 durability point per refine. |
| Refine failure | None. A valid completed refine always produces one gemstone. |
The Raw Gem decides the stat family. The Jewel Cutter decides how likely you are to receive a higher-quality gemstone.
Gemstone Quality & Tiers
Every gemstone family contains 25 tiers, divided into five quality bands:
| Quality | Tier range |
|---|---|
| Poor | Tier 1–5 |
| Decent | Tier 6–10 |
| Good | Tier 11–15 |
| Excellent | Tier 16–20 |
| Perfect | Tier 21–25 |
After the quality band is rolled, the server randomly selects one of the five tiers inside that band with equal probability.
Jewel Cutter Rates
| Cutter | Poor | Decent | Good | Excellent | Perfect |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 40% | 30% | 18% | 9% | 3% |
| Silver | 25% | 28% | 25% | 15% | 7% |
| Gold | 12% | 20% | 28% | 25% | 15% |
| Platinum | 5% | 10% | 20% | 30% | 35% |
Useful Cutter Stats
| Cutter | Excellent or better | Perfect | Average rolled tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 12% | 3% | 8.25 |
| Silver | 22% | 7% | 10.55 |
| Gold | 40% | 15% | 13.55 |
| Platinum | 65% | 35% | 17.00 |
For example, Platinum has a 35% Perfect chance. Because Perfect contains five equally likely tiers, each individual Perfect tier has a 7% chance:
Likewise, Bronze has a 3% Perfect chance, which means each individual Perfect tier has only a 0.6% chance.
Raw Gem Families
| Raw Gem | Gemstone stat | Can be socketed into |
|---|---|---|
| Orange | Defense Ratio | Armor / Shield |
| Purple | Magic Resistance | Armor / Shield |
| Red | HP Recovery | Armor / Shield |
| Blue | MP Recovery | Armor / Shield |
| Green | SP Recovery | Armor / Shield |
| Aqua | Knockback Resistance | Armor / Shield |
| Gold | Stun Resistance | Armor / Shield |
| Silver | Hit Ratio | Weapon |
| Pink | Extra EXP | Weapon |
| Shiraz | Extra Gold | Weapon |
| Cyan | Consecutive Attack Damage (CAD) | Weapon |
| Malachite | Poison Damage | Weapon |
2. Unlocking Gemstone Slots
Before a gemstone can be inserted, the equipment must have an open slot. Slot Enhancement supports weapons, shields, and normal equipment pieces such as helmets, armor, arms, pants, and leggings.
| Upgrade | Gold cost per attempt | Success chance | On failure |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 → 1 Slot | 5,000,000 Gold | 80% | Gold is consumed; equipment remains unchanged. |
| 1 → 2 Slots | 10,000,000 Gold | 60% | Gold is consumed; existing slot and gemstones remain intact. |
The equipment itself is not destroyed when Slot Enhancement fails.
Slot Enhancement Formula & Expected Cost
Each attempt is an independent random roll from 1 to 100:
The theoretical average number of attempts needed is:
| Slot | Success | Average attempts | Theoretical average Gold cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| First Slot | 80% | 1.25 | 6,250,000 Gold |
| Second Slot | 60% | 1.67 | Approximately 16,666,667 Gold |
These are long-run averages, not guarantees. You can succeed on the first attempt or fail several times in a row.
Chance to Unlock Both Slots
If you succeed on the first attempt for both upgrades:
The minimum Gold needed for a perfect two-attempt run is 15,000,000 Gold.
3. Socketing a Gemstone
Once equipment has an empty slot, double-click the gemstone in your inventory and select the target equipment.
- Socketing itself has no failure chance.
- The gemstone is consumed only when all socketing rules pass.
- Armor/shield gemstones cannot be inserted into weapons.
- Weapon gemstones cannot be inserted into armor or shields.
- The target must have at least one empty gemstone slot.
- The same gemstone stat family cannot be used twice on the same equipment.
Same-Family Rule
The two slots are meant for different stat families. A stronger gem does not bypass this rule.
When Gemstone Bonuses Apply
Gemstone bonuses are part of the equipment's stats. The bonus is applied while the socketed equipment is equipped, together with the rest of that item's effects.
| Gemstone family | Server stat affected |
|---|---|
| Defense Ratio | Defense Ratio |
| Magic Resistance | Magic Resistance |
| HP Recovery | HP Recovery bonus |
| MP Recovery | MP Recovery bonus |
| SP Recovery | SP Recovery bonus |
| Knockback Resistance | Knockback Resistance |
| Stun Resistance | Stun Resistance |
| Hit Ratio | Hit Ratio |
| Extra EXP | Extra EXP % |
| Extra Gold | Extra Gold % |
| CAD | Consecutive Attack Damage |
| Poison Damage | Additional Poison Damage |
4. Removing Gemstones
If you want to change a build, Gemstone Unsocketing removes an existing gemstone and returns it to you.
| Selection | Gold cost | Success rate | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| One Slot | 10,000,000 Gold | 100% | The selected gemstone is removed and returned. |
| Both Slots | 15,000,000 Gold | 100% | Both gemstones are removed and returned. |
Unsocketing does not destroy the gemstone. If your inventory cannot receive a returned gemstone, the server attempts to place it on the ground at your character's position instead.
Inventory Rules While Refining
A single Raw Gem can reuse its own inventory slot after it is consumed. However, if your Raw Gems are stacked and more than one remains after the refine, you need another free inventory slot for the finished gemstone.
| Raw Gem stack before refining | Extra free slot needed? |
|---|---|
| 1 Raw Gem | No. Its consumed slot can be reused for the result. |
| 2 or more Raw Gems | Yes. The remaining Raw Gem stack continues occupying its slot. |
The Jewel Cutter remains selected for another refine as long as it still has durability remaining.
Where Raw Gems Come From
Raw Gems are closely connected to the Mining system:
| Mining resource | Raw Gems |
|---|---|
| Rock | Orange, Purple, Red, Blue, Green, Aqua |
| Crystal | Gold, Silver, Pink, Shiraz, Cyan, Malachite |
Jewelcrafting Achievements
A successful Raw Gem refine counts toward the Jewelcrafting achievement activity. Successful gemstone socketing, slot upgrades, failed slot upgrades, and gemstone unsocketing also have their own achievement hooks in the current server.
Recommended Progression
- Mine or obtain Raw Gems.
- Use cheaper cutters when you mainly need a usable gemstone.
- Use Gold or Platinum Cutters when targeting high-tier gems.
- Unlock the first equipment slot first; its 80% success rate is considerably safer.
- Reserve the second slot for equipment you expect to keep, because it costs more and succeeds at 60%.
- Choose two different stat families that complement the build.
- Unsocket valuable high-tier gems before replacing equipment if you want to reuse them.
