Friends Guide
The Friends system gives you a permanent contact list for the characters you meet around Helbreath Nexus. Add another player, see when they are online, check their nation, start a private message quickly, or remove them from your list whenever you want.
Opening Your Friends List
Press CTRL+F while in game to open or close the Friends window. Whenever you open it, the game requests a fresh copy of your friend list and current online information.
The list shows three pieces of information for every friend:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Your friend's character name. |
| Nation | Aresden, Elvine, or Traveler when no nation can currently be identified. |
| Status | Online or Offline. |
Online friends are highlighted in green while offline friends are dimmed. At the bottom of the window you will also see a summary such as 3/12 friends online.
How to Add a Friend
- Open the Friends window with CTRL+F.
- Click Add friend.
- Your cursor enters character-selection mode.
- Click the player you want to add.
- That player receives a Friend Request popup.
- If they accept, both of you are added to each other's friend list.
Accepting or Rejecting a Request
When another player adds you, a request popup appears with the option to accept or reject the friendship.
| Choice | Result |
|---|---|
| Accept | The friendship is created for both characters and both friend lists are refreshed. |
| Reject | No friendship is created and the requester is notified that the request was rejected. |
| Another request popup is already open | The incoming friend request is automatically rejected so it does not overwrite the request already being shown. |
A friend request must still be genuinely pending when you respond to it. Old or already-consumed requests cannot be accepted later.
Friend List Limits & Stats
| Stat | Current value |
|---|---|
| Maximum friends | 40 per character |
| Visible rows | 8 friends at a time |
| Friendship scope | Character |
| Friendship type | Mutual / two-way |
| Friend list persistence | Saved permanently until one side unfriends the other |
Your remaining friend capacity is simply:
For example, a character with 27 friends has 13 friend slots remaining.
Online & Offline Status
Your Friends window is more than a saved name list. The server also keeps the online state updated while you play.
- When a visible friend logs in, their entry changes to Online.
- When they log out, their entry changes to Offline.
- The game also posts a small event message such as Friend 'Name' logged in. or logged out.
- Opening the Friends window refreshes the full list again.
Players hidden by server visibility rules are not reported as normally online through the Friends system.
How Nation Is Displayed
For an online friend, the Friends window uses that character's current nation directly. For an offline friend, the server checks the character's last saved location to identify whether they belong to Aresden or Elvine.
| Displayed nation | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Aresden | The character is identified as Aresden. |
| Elvine | The character is identified as Elvine. |
| Traveler | The current or saved information does not identify either town. |
Friend Actions
Click a name in your Friends window to open its small action menu.
PM
Select PM <name> to immediately start a private whisper to that character. The game uses the normal /to whisper system, so you do not need to type the name manually.
Unfriend
Select Unfriend <name> to remove the friendship. The relationship is removed from both sides, even if the other character is currently offline.
What Happens When a Friend List Is Full?
The server will never store more than 40 friends for one character. A new friendship therefore needs room in the participating friend lists before it can become a complete two-way relationship.
If a request cannot be completed because of a limit, duplicate pending request, invalid state, or the target no longer being available, the add operation fails and no normal friendship is formed.
Friend Requests Are Online Requests
Friend invitations are delivered directly to an online character. They are not stored as offline mail or as a request that waits until the next login.
This means:
- If the target is not online, there is no request waiting for them later.
- If the requester goes offline before the other player accepts, the pending request can no longer complete normally.
- If another request popup is occupying the receiver's screen, the new friend request is rejected automatically.
Friends & Achievements
Forming friendships can also progress social achievements. The current achievement system remembers each unique pair of characters, so repeatedly unfriending and re-adding the same person does not create new social progress.
| Achievement | Requirement | Title |
|---|---|---|
| First Friend | Form your first new friendship | First Friend |
Social Butterfly Progression
| Unique friendships formed | Title |
|---|---|
| 5 | Friendly Face |
| 10 | People Person |
| 20 | Social Butterfly |
| 30 | Circle Builder |
| 40 | Community Regular |
| 50 | Well Connected |
| 75 | Social Star |
| 100 | Community Icon |
| 150 | Friendship Ambassador |
| 250 | Master Socialite |
Common Situations
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| You click yourself | The client refuses the selection. |
| The character is already your friend | The client stops the duplicate request. |
| The target is offline | The request cannot be delivered. |
| The same request is already pending | A second pending copy is not created. |
| The receiver rejects | No friendship is saved. |
| The requester logs out before acceptance | The request cannot complete normally because the requester is no longer online. |
| One player unfriends the other | The friendship is removed in both directions. |
| You re-add an old friend | You can become friends again, but that same pair does not award fresh social-achievement progress. |
